Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit

Last year we joined forces with young reporters from Media Cubs pop-up TV studio and newsroom to give them the opportunity to ask big questions to members of our team.

Young reporters from age seven up to 18 have been busy in the newsroom and already conducted interviews with Bev Hughes, Greater Manchester’s Deputy Mayor for Policing, Crime, Criminal Justice and Fire, Dan Diamond, the VRUs Partnership Lead, and Superintendent Chris Downey, the VRUs Police Lead.

Most recently, the young reporters conducted a Mastermind interview with VRU Director, Damian Dallimore, to find out why Greater Manchester needs a Violence Reduction Unit, the crimes the unit works to reduce, what inspired him to work in the unit and importantly… which superhero he would like to be!
