On Monday 18 August 2025, the New Bury Alliance hosted an exciting event at New Bury Community Centre. This community event was held after local elected individuals organised for a mobile skate park to attend the centre, following the success of last year’s organisation.

The police organised for the Foundation92 Youth Bus to attend, alongside the Alliance Facilitator bringing local partners and community organisations. Also in attendance were New Bury Boxing, Bolton Wanderers In The Community, 1Message, Your Housing Group, Bolton At Home, Onward Housing, Bolton Art Circle, Bolton Octagon (The Agency), Bolton Community Safety Team, Greater Manchester Police, and local councillors.

In total, there were around 150 young people in attendance, with free refreshments and snack provided by New Bury Boxing club. It was a great day with many young people having the opportunity to experience the skate park and youth bus, finding out what resources and support services are available to them in their local area. It also gave the chance for families to speak to their local policing team and housing organisations, resolving concerns and increasing communication within the community.

Councillor Sanders said: ‘‘We have had feedback from residents which has been very positive. Children thoroughly enjoyed the skatepark, games and other creative activities – and have asked for more of the same in the future. There was a wide range of engagement with some of those young people who wouldn’t normally join in with these types of activities – attending and having an enjoyable experience’’

The goal is to host more of these events in the future, focusing on a wider partnership approach to bring as many people together as possible.
