Greater Manchester Violence Reduction Unit

Why are we developing the strategy?

Since the VRU was established in 2019, we have developed key partnerships and programmes of work to deliver on the VRU’s Serious Violence Action Plan

In April, we published the 2022/23 Strategic Needs Assessment for Greater Manchester and committed to implementing its recommendations.

We are also working with partners to implement the Serious Violence Duty.

We are now creating Greater Manchester’s first Violence Reduction Strategy to set out our ambitions to reduce violence in Greater Manchester and to ensure we have clarity over the priorities to achieve this.

How are we developing the strategy?

The VRU takes a community-led approach to violence reduction.

The development and delivery of the Violence Reduction Strategy will take the same approach with participation, engagement and consultation with the public, communities, and partners, underpinning the whole process.
