Mini reporters from Media Cubs online newsroom club held their very own press conference with a magistrate from Greater Manchester, also known as a Justice of Peace (JP).

The press conference was part of the VRU’s partnership with Media Cubs, helping to amplify more young voices from across Greater Manchester.

Paul Brearley sits on the bench for local family courts and is also the Deputy Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Stockport division.

Media Cubs reporters turned the tables and put Paul in the hotseat to quiz him about his volunteer role and why more young people should consider becoming a magistrate themselves.

Paul said: “We really do want to encourage young people to consider applying to join the magistracy. We really have got to get an awful lot smarter in how we let young people know that their views and opinion and truly wanted, needed and appreciated.”
